K-West Concert

I just had to open up this blog with my little brother stuttin' the "stronger" shades. The concert was a secret and to get him to Nashville, I had to tell him we were going to a "Haunted House". Boy was he glad he wasn't going to a haunted house.

If I were to rate this concert on a scale from 1 to 10, 10 being the best...I'd give it an 8...well I'm comparing it his show that he did two years ago. Okay, so the concert featured two artist that I've never heard of, Guster and another band, Brett Dennen. Brett Dennen was straight, wasn't my type of music, but it was barible.

Soooo, the show was supposed to start at 8 pm. but began like 30 minutes late and the last band didn't get off stage until about 10. After the bands got off stage, the production guys began to set up for K-West. We had to wait like another 30 minutes, which seemed like forever for the real "show" to begin.

Finally the wait is over!! Kanye comes out hard with 'Through the Wire'. Let me set the scene. The bass in the speakers was so incredibly loud and heavy that you could feel it in your throat and chest and the lighting was awesome! In the pics I took you can barley see him, if the lights were they were super bright and when they were flashing to go off, they actually went off, so timing to get good shots was crucial, you'll see in the videos. Here's some pics.

Phase 2: Kanye was doing "druken hot girls" and he forgets the lyrics and begins to freestyle and that's when all HELL broke loose. The freestyle turned into a talk session that went on for about 10 minutes. I can honestly say I was bored and it was very apparent to other concert goers, so much so that I had take out a sheet of paper and began documenting the concert, like a friggan journalist (i do have that background). Kanye stopped performing 2 or 3 of his songs, including my favorite and his favorite off the album, "flashing ligts". When he stopped the song he let us know that just may be the next single and he has 7 videos that are supposed to be coming out for his album.

DJ A-Trak was there doin' his thing on the turn tables, he was incredible and I got meet him after the concert.

Later in the show he said, " I want ya'll to understand why I spaze out at award shows, I don't care about the award shows...I give a---I give a f*ck bout award shows, they should bow in the presence of greatness" as he shrugged his shoulders and went into the last song of the night,"stronger". When he performed the song, it was off the chain and at the end A-trak torn up the trak, I felt like I was in some kind of techno club, it was just awesome.

The concert was fun, but I had seen better from Ye, but what really mattered is that my brother had a GREAT time and he did. Speaking of my brother having a great time, we got to meet Kanye later, got his autograph and here is the whack pic, I took of him. We were seperated by a fence :(
